Just ... bizarre.
The top of Adam's computer monitor was Commodore and Tsunami's favorite place to nap. When he bought a flat screen monitor they were heartbroken. Tsunami even tried to jump on top of it before realizing there was no surface to support him.

Despite the current war that rages between these two there are moments where they find peace enough to nap together. Or, Tsunami is trying a new strategy in Terror and will ambush Commodore once he drifts off...

SO MUCH FUN!
Carnival!
There are many areas in Portland that still have old horse tie rings inbedded in the edge of the sidewalk. In many of these places you can see that people have tied various toy horses to them. Here we have a classic, My Little Pony. Looks like he's been here for quite some time. That, or the Swamp of Sadness got to him.

"The slumpy what now?"
For the pretty birthday earrings. They're like tiny orbits spinning around my face.
Thanks mom!

Color Coordinated
This is Tsunami's favorite toy, three sparkly balls on strings attached to a pole. Sparkly balls are a long time love of Tsunami's so when I saw these in an interaction format I thought he just might dig it. Turns out he digs it a little too much. If the toy is out he drags it around the house mournfully crying out for someone to play with him. If the toy is put away (I keep all fishing pole toys in a glass vase on the floor next to a chair) he sits in front of the vase and pitifully bats at a hanging sparkly ball taking moments in between staring longingly at the toy and weakly batting at it, to looking around the room seeing if I notice just how desperate he is. And yes, I'm well aware of his desperation. But playing with him at any length of time with this thing never seems like enough. Soon afterward he goes right back to dragging it around and meowing like a sad orphan. Altogether now, awwwww.

That's right, I was a cheerleader (briefly). I have absolutely no memory of cheering, all I remember is a photo shoot the squad did and that's when I had that What the hell am I doing, moment. I don't remember if I quit or just didn't sign up for the next season. Nice sweat pants though. This is 5th grade I think. I guess we were too young to wear sexy skirts? I bet fifth graders where sexy skirts now. Sweet hair style. Oh man, I could go on for hours...
Prepare to be dazzled.
This is Jezebel. It's one of the only things that I own that I regard as female, most everything else in my care is male, including stuffed animals, most of my furniture, and my coffee maker. But this little bitch is female because she's a pain in my ass and everytime we hang out all I want to do is curse. But despite this we're the best of friends, she makes me feel better about myself and I make her feel pretty! With stickers! And pink streamers! And love...
My pretty...
I recently set up my Barbie stuff for a friend's little girl to play with while they were visiting for dinner. Her dad is a bit of a freak, like us, so she was unphased by Jason coming in and crashing Barbie's party. Instead of murder and mayhem, Jason got a makeover.

Commodore and I were watching a scary movie on my laptop in bed when Commodore got scared by a particularly intense scene and he just had to look away. It's okay Comms, I'll protect you! (but not before I take a funny picture of you first!)
Is he ... still behind me?
The best month of the year, so says the crow.

This little gem of an image came from a great website which is dedicated to the art of Weight Watchers recipe cards from 1974. http://www.candyboots.com/wwcards.html Every image is accompanied by the authors witty remarks which are really what makes this website do damn funny. This image has the following text,

While I was looking for a relevant pinup photo to match my post, like this one http://www.thepinupfiles.com/images/elv-0001.jpg I stummbled across some bizarre pictures that I felt compelled to post. Like the one featured. What is happening there? It's like a grown up no nippled little girl fetish or something. And then there's this, http://www.thepinupfiles.com/images/donrust002LG.jpg is this grown woman tucking in her doll for beddy time? Or, more disturbingly, is she she peeling back the covers to join him? He looks a little scared. And then there's http://www.thepinupfiles.com/images/kbsRUST004lg.jpg now, it's hard to make cuddling the heads of dead animals sexy, but amazingly she pulls it off. And last but not least we have this surreal image here http://www.thepinupfiles.com/images/Randall-LG-04.jpg I was trying to find a picture of a girl working behind a counter, but all I could find were receptionists and teachers, image that. And yeah, space chics.
Umm ... okay...

Commodore! Lazy bastard.
Clearly he has it rough. Because we beat him. With sticks.
For those of you who didn't see Cinderella 400 times, this is Lucifer, the funniest most evil cat ever. Of course other animated cat villians who are awesome are MAD Cat (from Inspector Gadget) and Dragon (from The Secret of NIMH). Tom isn't here for a reason folks.

Cats are still trying to get in the way of my play time. Even as I try to write this, Commodore is laying on one of my arms and pressing keys on my laptop...
Things haven't changed much.
My new favorite thing, a bright pink pillow case with an animal skull on it. I think it's a deer. It says Kayo Dot which is a band that Adam listens to, which is how he got the pillowcase, but that part doesn't even matter. It's awesomeness is all that matters. Who knew that a pink skull pillowcase could brighten a girl's night everytime she hits the sack? Not I. Not I.
Sweet dreams are made of these...
My favorite flowers are lilacs. It's unfortunate for me that they have a bloom time of about the blink of an eye. So you can imagine how surprised I was that when May rolled around this year, I noticed a giant lilac tree in my neighbor's backyard. The tree is right next to the fence that seperates her lawn from our driveway, and the branches heavy with lilacs droop over the fence, hanging low enough so that I can walk right up to them and give them a good nose snorgle. The best part is when I open my kitchen window, the room fills with the scent of lilac. Ahhh, so divine.
Lilacs in the backyard.
It's a hard knock life for Commodore
I have had four plants in the last year, all of which have hung from the chain above the trash cans, adding their sprawling green arms to the stark whiteness that is my kitchen. Every single one has died. I kill things. So after throwing out my very brown fern, I decided to hang something from the chain that cannot die. Maybe in a sense it's already dead. I did afterall, nail her to a wall once before. Through the forehead. So now here she swings, gently in the breeze from the open window, reminding me of my black thumb. ps. this doll was lovingly hand crafted by my girlfriend Vanessa. Hi Vanessa!
The death chain.
As amusing as this photo is by itself, it of course has a story. Adam being the delayed gratification guy that he is, bought Sky Linx (autobot 1986) in box and kept him sitting around unopened for weeks. WEEKS! So I fashioned this sign and gently taped it to the box, voicing Sky's discontent with remaining cooped up in his box. Days later, after Sky Linx was released from his cardboard prison, the sign somehow made it onto one of my classic horror posters. It's somehow still fitting.
Come again?

To give you perspective, those are my legs on either side of Tsunami, my feet crossed at his head, my lap where his tail is. He likes to sink into the hammock of fabric between my lower legs. This photo was taken early in his nap. Later on, as he continues to sink, he becomes almost completely enclosed in fabric. Like a kitty burrito.

The Living Dead
Here we see Commodore pretending to sleep. He's getting cranky in his old age and often pretends to sleep just to ignore me. He's also stopped coming to me when I call for him. I once would use Commodore as an example that cats do in fact know their name because he would always come running to me whenever I called out for him. Now he just ignores me and shuffles into the room when he feels like it. But he's still the best cat in the universe. Yes, even better than your cat. It's a scientific fact.
The great pretender.
This little guy set up house outside our living room window. It was interesting being able to inspect him so close without fear of it jumping on my face. I watched him wrap up a bug in silk. It was awesome.
His name is Frank.

Dear Dorothy, Hopefully by the time you're a little older the world will be a better place to live in. In the meantime, go easy on your mom, she's a good friend of mine, and when you turn 21 I have this brilliant concoction called a cosmopolitan, to introduce you to. Oh, and also tequila, but that might have to wait until you're 25. Have fun with your childhood! You'll spend most of your adult life trying to relive it so please don't be in a hurry to grow up. Oh, and stay away from boys, they have cooties.
Welcome to the world Dorothy Marie
I miss my plastic pool. It was blue and had images of Puff the Magic Dragon all over it. Which is really appropriate that my parents bought that one, now that I think about it...

Fabian Perez is an artist I discovered while in Hawaii. I've been in the mood for his work lately and have been perusing his website often. http://www.fabianperez.com/ This one is called "The Princess Diaries". I'm guessing created before that Anne Hathaway film.

You can't actually see the bike in the photo but this was actually the first time in more than 10 years that I had been on a bicycle. To say the least, I was on cloud nine for the next five hours of bike riding. I actually squealed at one point while pedaling really fast and going down a hill. I'm a girl of simple pleasures.
